DBIS Women Conference 2023: A Celebration of Empowerment and Connection
This year, Daybreak Independent Services hosted our Annual Women Conference at our Woodlawn Facility in the Bronx. The conference aimed to provide a space for women receiving services and direct support professionals to come together, celebrate their accomplishments, and empower one another.
The conference featured a series of engaging speeches from notable women in the community, touching on topics ranging from self-care and mental health to personal growth and professional development. Attendees also enjoyed various pampering activities, including hairdos, manicures, and makeup sessions – all designed to encourage self-care and wellness.
Providing Support and Empowerment
The event was a resounding success, with both direct support professionals and people receiving services expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to come together in a supportive and empowering environment. For many, the conference provided a much-needed break from the daily stresses and challenges of life, offering an opportunity to recharge, reconnect, and feel a sense of belonging.
One of the key highlights of the conference was the opportunity for attendees to share their stories and connect with others. Throughout the day, women of all ages and backgrounds came together to discuss their experiences, offer support and advice to one another, and celebrate their unique strengths and talents.
Recognizing a Generous Soul
During the Women Conference, we at Daybreak Independent Services also took the opportunity to recognize a special member of our community who has been a constant source of motivation and support for our program. She has generously donated various food items to Daybreak from time to time, which has helped to support the DSP staff and people receiving services. Her contributions have been invaluable in fostering a sense of community and encouraging everyone to come together and support one another. As a token of our gratitude, we recognized her as our 2023 Guest of Honor during the Women Conference. Through this recognition, Daybreak highlighted the importance of giving back to the community and recognized the significant impact that her contributions have had on our program.
